3 weeks until we move aboard

It’s kind of scary just how fast time is flying by now… Flights are booked for the 9th Sept, we need to be moved out of the house by the 8th so the cleaners can come in and there is a packing list as long as your arm! The good news is that we have our storage solution sorted and will be packing everything up into a container whilst we are away. Although trying to work out what size we need to get is a massive (who knew it was such a specalist task). At the moment, we don’t know whether we will have too much space or will be leaning on the doors to try and get them shut.

On the boat front, thing are moving along nicely. We have got the completed Bill of Sale (BoS) which confirms we’re now the owners of Nautilus. We have got our provisional registration for Jersey and now need to complete the final process.  Part of this is a pretty arcane process called a tonnage survey.  Nothing to do with the weight of the boat, but is down to her cargo carrying capacity. We need to get a surveyor to measure her and then get a marking plate made and mounted somewhere. Again, seems to serve no useful purpose as we’re not going to be shipping barrels of wine or bushels of corn, but we need to keep the surveyors employed!

Other tasks include getting the VHF radio and the EPRIB (automatic satellite alarm) reprogrammed with the new name / callsign for Nautilus.
