Heading North

Having done a few long passages now – there is definitely a transitional phase you go through. The first 3 days feel quite intense as you’re rushing around the boat checking things and making sure you’re happy… basically being a bit neurotic. Come day 3 you start settling into the swing of it and glide through the day… It could that or the sleep deprivation, hard to pick sometimes.

Anyway all is good onboard although Tates is still feeling under the weather with a cold and it’s fairly mild symptoms for me. I got to the bottom of the alternator problem. fortunately it wasn’t the alternator itself, but the ARGOFET that connects it to the batteries. Whilst it’s not ideal, I can rig a bypass and it means we still have two good alternators for the passage, which is a good thing as it’s pretty cloudy at the moment so our solar isn’t making much power.  No ships nearby, but there was something about 10M away on the radar without any AIS (identification) turned on. The area is well know for drug smuggling, so I made sure we kept away and carried on NW.  That said, we did have an amazing sunset!

We have have another 24 hours of sailing NW before we start turning due West… at the moment, I think we are point directly at Russia, so i’m looking forward to when we feel like we’re going in the right direction. There are also signs of the current picking up to help us on our way!
