Pacific Day 12 – Dirty Bottom……

Back down south......

Well, we have made our turn and are now point directly at the Marquesas islands. Computer says only 1215 nautical miles left to go, which should be about 8 to 9 days depending on the wind and waves. We’re out of the current that was carrying us along, so things will be a bit slower for a while.

It’s also mental just how much growth there is on the hull. above the hull is covered with brown slime and you can see below the goose barnacles don’t seem to care about the coppercoat antifoul and have latched on… All our friends who crossed had the same. However, they did say that something comes along to eat them in the Marquesas and after a couple of nights at anchor they’ll all be gone…..

Very light winds at the moment – we managed to get the Parasilor up working on a beam reach, nearly up to 90 degrees apparent. It’s a sail that to be honest i’m really struggling to bond with and i regret buying (but that’s for another blog post), and i’m hoping there is time for it to grow on me still.

We also took the opportunity the opportunity to catch up on some laundry.

Other than that, all pretty quiet out here and we’re pottering along at 3-4 knots.
