Well that kept us awake – 4am the sky was alive with lightning and crashes of thunder all around. Malta showing it can really throw some weather at us. I’m certainly glad we weren’t out at sea or sitting on a mooring.

Another lesson learned — don’t go to sleep with any hatches open if you think there is going to be heavy rain. There were huge puddles in the cockpit and down in the bathroom too – I ended up having to mop up the water whilst feeling like I was in the blitz.

One other side effect of the heavy rain is that the water that is usually beautifully clear in the marina is now somewhat murky and has a pretty strong smell to it.  The toilets on Nautilus flush with salt water pumped in from under the boat – this is one of those rare occasions where the boat smelled worse after flushing the toilet than before!
