We’re aboard in Valletta

Well that wasn’t so bad, the flight was fine and we didn’t have any issues with collecting our bags and getting through customs, despite two max’d out trollies. On the way over Tates had a great idea that we should hire a car, rather than paying for two taxis to cart us and our stuff to the boat.  We found something cheap at the airport and got ourselves down to Nautilus.

For a boat that felt so large to start with, it’s amazing how quickly it starts to feel full up with “stuff”. We have started unpacking our 6 bags and working out whether things should live.  It’s definitely a bit of a process when you have to think about storage, weight and how to find things when you need them.

Dad would be raising an eyebrow if it could see the state of the boat at the moment as we’re certainly not “Ship Shape and Bristol Fashion” at the moment. By hey, we’re also not out sailing at the moment.

I can think of worse places to be....

So what’s next?

Well we still have a lot of unpacking to do and I need to go around Nautilus putting together a to do list. There are quite a few maintenance tasks to be done, including cleaning out the water tanks (but more on that later). In the meantime, we’re hoping to get out for a sail on Sunday.

  1. I’ve taken a slightly different tack of escaping….get funded for 10 weeks in Toronto and New York and I can now catch up on your blog.
Currently in Toronto in the Hotel York cocktail bar and have time to catch up on your news.
You did well with only 6 bags
